Porto Montenegro played host to the SGI Adria Conference 2025 from April 9–11, a gathering that continues to shape the dialogue around energy, sustainability, and industrial resilience in Southeast Europe. This year’s summit was more than just a meeting of minds — it was a declaration of intent from industries that no longer wish to be silent participants in the region’s energy transition.
Metalfer Group was proud to take part under the banner of the newly established Association of Serbian Energy Intensive Industry — a coalition of five industrial leaders representing the backbone of Serbia’s real economy: steel, cement, and fertilizer.
Formed in September 2024, the Association brings together Metalfer Steel Mill, Elixir Group, Lafarge BFC, Moravacem, and Titan Cementara in a shared pursuit of a competitive, low-carbon future. Our presence at SGI 2025 marked the Association’s first joint appearance on an international stage — and it sent a clear message: energy-intensive industries in Serbia are ready to engage constructively, advocate openly, and lead responsibly.
The summit’s panels echoed with key themes that resonate deeply with our mission — the need for smart regulation, realistic decarbonization pathways, and equitable access to clean, affordable energy. Metalfer Group, both as a founding member of the Association and as a company long committed to green transformation, contributed to conversations that bridged policy and pragmatism, ambition and accountability.
For Metalfer Group, the event underscored a growing regional momentum: that the future of energy is not just about technology or targets, but about cooperation, clarity, and the courage to speak from the heart of the real economy. As Serbia’s industrial base navigates the complexities of carbon pricing, CBAM, and regulatory convergence with the EU, we are determined to be part of the solution — not from the sidelines, but from the center.
