Responsible to the community, responsible to yourself
The development of Metalfer is inextricably linked with the community whose members are also our company’s employees, and on whose land production takes place. We inherit the dedication and expertise of our people as the greatest value, and we encourage them to listen to the needs of the community and thereby create a pleasant, stimulating environment for work and life.
We have recognized the sensitive categories of our fellow citizens and we pay special attention to them – from preschoolers whom we support in sports activities to students whom we grant scholarships at universities throughout the Republic of Serbia. As the only domestic company in the area, we feel an additional responsibility to give back to the community from which our current and future employees came in the best possible way. We believe that being socially responsible does not only mean ethical business practices and the same treatment towards all interested parties, but also providing continuous support to the main bearers of society, through its most important spheres: education, sports, culture and economy.
We now traditionally cooperate with secondary schools, which is reflected in the implementation of projects such as professional practices, i.e. the Dual Education program. Our plans with trainees are of a long-term nature and at the moment we have a few employees who started in our company as trainees. In order to enable students to learn and develop in the spirit of modern technologies, and at the same time in accordance with their age, we donate multifunctional smart benches , which we place in the courtyards of high schools. We also help local preschool institutions through various donations and engagement of our employees.
The biggest challenge for the economy of a small environment is enabling young, educated people to build a career in their city – we have found a way to motivate them to return to Sremska Mitrovica after their studies and start a family there, and start a professional career. We provide non-refundable scholarships to high school students and students, children of our employees. Their high grades prove that these are dedicated young people who need support at crucial moments, and it is especially important for us that after completing their studies they often return and get employed in our company, continuing to promote the same values that helped them to grow professionally. come true.
Through various sponsorships, professional internships, mutual scientific-technological cooperation and exchange of experiences and information, we achieve cooperation with faculties throughout the country. Also, by participating in the “My First Salary” program, we give young people the opportunity to gain their first experience at Metalfer, and to enter into a regular employment relationship with us even before the program ends.
Supporting sports activities
An indispensable segment of every healthy society is sport, which fosters team spirit and combativeness; that’s exactly why we help local football clubs, from the youngest, pre-school groups, to the senior ones. We are proud of the successes achieved by the artistic dance groups under our patronage, as well as the results of the boys for whom we provide trips to sports training and tournaments. We are honored that the most successful children of our city wear the colors of our company at their performances. We have not forgotten the older ones either, and we also help the traditional football tournament hosted by our city, and last year we were the main sponsors of the 34th. international tournament in indoor soccer.
Investing in local culture
Each community is special precisely because of its cultural characteristics, and we believe that as a socially responsible company, through various activities, we should support our environment in nurturing its uniqueness and cultural identity. We help hold concerts for our fellow citizens, participate in the celebration of the city holiday, and hold theater performances for the youngest members of the community. In addition to all of the above, we respond to the requests we receive from various institutions and associations and send donations whenever we can.
