It is held first ceremony for our first-grade pupils to be, “Newbie Scolar”
Since going to school is one of the most important events in the life of every child, we decided to support them and in this way to contribute to building a positive attitude towards education with an entertaining program and adequate gifts.
In the realization of the project, we had help of our little creative friends, participants of our “Moj Superheroj” art competition, and on this occasion we also awarded them. The most creative ones returned home with a new bicycle, rollerblades, scooter, first-grade pupils all with full school backpacks, and we, we went home determined to continue to support young people by motivating them to improve their knowledge and skills through education.
On Friday 9/12/2022. the Metalfer “Novogodisnji bal” was held
On that particular evening, a special kind of magic dusted the air for the Metalfer mini-royals. That Friday, everyone sprang from their beds, hearts aflutter, eagerly awaiting their departure for the ball. Our pint-sized academics were on tenterhooks for the final school bell, itching to arrive in time, while the youngest ones bubbled with excitement for their debut encounter with Father Frost. And indeed, they were punctual and exemplary. All decked out, with invitations in hand, masks over their eyes, and smiles as wide as the moon, they made their grand entrance into the ceremonial hall. In a twinkling, over 300 little Metalfer munchkins, parents, grandparents and all, were basking in a theatrical extravaganza and the capers of costumed entertainers. That night, the usual humdrum of factory noise, trucks, and printers was replaced by a symphony of children’s chatter, laughter, and applause. Of course, we dished out New Year’s goodie bags, each one thoughtfully curated to age and expectations. But as the curtain fell on the evening, it became clear that the most precious gift had been received not by the children, but by Metalfer himself.
Team spirit in metalfer’s work and sports activities
Our “steel boys” showed teamwork and perseverance in the football field in two sports events.
The spring and fall of 2022 were marked by two major sport events that our company is proud of – “Čeličenje”, a team building where the main event is a football tournament, and the “Čelična liga” – a team building in form of football league that have been lasted two-months and was held on Saturday mornings in the city sports hall.
Just like working in a team, the skills, emotions and commitment of Metalfer employees are clearly recognizable even when they gather around the ball, outside of the workplace. Our colleagues apply their work ethic to the football field with equal optimism and fighting spirit. By their abilities and energy, all participants contribute to these team building activities, and it’s always a pleasure to watch employees collaborate and have fun at the same time, while friends and families support them from the stands. Instead of supervisors, this time they were supervised by football referees, and the results of collective effort awaited them on the scoreboard of the sports hall.
In addition to great fun these events showed that our company really has amazing athletes. „Steel boys” showed not only excellent fitness and great football knowledge, but also the importance of a good, fair play. Trust in teammates was felt among Metalfer football players and the quality of football was on such a high level that we decided to make these our traditional events and we definitely prepare for revanche games in next season.
In the past month, high school students and students, our scholarship holders, visited us. We proudly and with full right say “ours” because that’s what they are. Children of our employees, holders of our scholarships, our ambassadors today and our colleagues tomorrow.
From high school students, dental students to PhD students in technical sciences, we could say that we had a real academic gathering that day. Academic and family, because each of them came accompanied by their parents, who, by being employees of Metalfer, provided them not only with scholarships, but also continuous support in building their future. It is unnecessary to talk about the pride, happiness and satisfaction of our employees, they could not hide the sparkle in their eyes. It’s a big thing for them, maybe the biggest thing, because it’s about the future of their children.
We, on the other hand, didn’t want to talk about the “difficult” topics of that day, grades, exams, we just wanted to get to know the “newbies” and hang out with familiar faces again. A bit shy, nervous, just like freshmen on an exam, they didn’t talk much at first, but in a pleasant atmosphere, strengthened by the presence of their parents, they finally posed happily for the photographer’s lens.
They were not the only ones satisfied, our satisfaction was even greater. That gleam in the eye of a proud parent, a proud worker, was a signal for us. A signal that we are doing the right thing and that our vision really makes sense.
Device for measuring the relative surface of the ribs fR
The development of technology has made it possible for certain segments of testing of finished products to use devices with highly sophisticated software and cameras. In the future, the company will use a machine for automatic determination of the relative surface area of the ribs ( fR ) in order to eliminate the measurement error.
With this device, the company will be sure that all measurements ( fR ) on dimensions from 4mm to 40mm of ribbed concrete steel, coiled coils and reinforcing mesh meet all the values prescribed by the SRPS EN 10080 standard and other standards depending on the needs of customers.
The company decided to purchase the RM 305 ECM Datensysteme device, with which all tests will be automated and operator error excluded. The device has the ability to measure two, three, four or six rows of ribs, as well as the ability to measure ribbing in cold-rolled concrete steel.
Metalfer Elevates Quality Through Metallographic Testing Laboratory
In light of the increasingly stringent requirements of industry standards and the aspiration for continuous advancement in finished product quality, Metalfer has extended its list of internal examinations to include metallographic testing of steel. Aligning with global trends in sample preparation, the company has equipped its laboratory with renowned equipment manufacturer Struers.
Metalfer has furnished its lab with all the necessary devices and machines, starting from a sample cutting machine that facilitates swift and easy embedding of cut specimens in a hot mounting press by providing a flawless cut on the sample. The mounted samples then proceed to the most crucial and demanding phase – grinding and polishing. The grinding and polishing device operates in a fully automated mode, leaving operators additional time to prepare subsequent samples.
For the actual examination of the samples, Metalfer has chosen a microscope from Leica. As one of the market leaders, Leica has gone a step further in terms of software and image processing quality. The Flexacam C3 camera with 12 MP is one of the fastest high-resolution cameras suitable for various types of tests. Different magnifications ranging from 5x to 1000x allow users, with the help of appropriate software, to precisely assess all necessary parameters crucial for giving a final quality rating.

Metalfer Steel Mill Embraces the Future: Introducing the Scrap Metal Shredder for Enhanced Efficiency and Environmental Responsibility
Metalfer Steel Mill, the leading steel producer in the region, is currently in the process of introducing a new plant – the Scrap Metal Shredder (an automatic metal waste processing facility), purchased from the renowned Italian manufacturer Danieli, into its production process. This plant will enable Metalfer to more efficiently recycle metal waste and use it in steel production, resulting in significantly better and higher utilization of the raw materials the company uses in its production program.
This step represents a significant investment by the company in its production technology, but will bring significant long-term benefits to Metalfer. By using the Scrap Metal Shredder, the company will be able to process large quantities of metal waste in a short period of time, increasing the efficiency of the production process. The purchase of the scrap metal shredder will also have a positive impact on the company’s green agenda, which is focused on sustainability and environmental protection. By recycling metal waste, Metalfer will reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills, reducing its impact on the environment.

Metalfer Group has recently made the decision to replace their existing software that company use to manage day-to-day business activities, with a more comprehensive Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. As the company has grown in size, the complexity of processes and functions has also increased. The existing software, while covering all legal requirements, was no longer efficient enough to meet all the company’s needs.
After negotiations with several companies offering software solutions, three companies were shortlisted. A team of key employees from different departments of the company made the decision to work with M&I from Novi Sad. The contract was signed in August 2020, and the project began in October of the same year.
All planned project phases were completed on time, and the new ERP system, which includes all companies in the group and all departments (finance, sales, procurement, production, maintenance, transportation, HR, legal, tool shop, warehouse), was successfully launched on January 1st, 2021.
Metalfer Steel Mill is a constantly evolving organization, and as such, the implementation and development of the new ERP system will continue to evolve and never truly be finalized. However, the introduction of this new system is expected to greatly improve the efficiency and productivity of the company’s operations.
As part of its ongoing development strategy, Metalfer Steel Mill decided in 2017 to embark on a project to build a new wire and rebar rolling mill. After months of negotiations with six leading global equipment manufacturers and analyzing proposed solutions, in May 2018, we decided to enter into a partnership with DANIELI, the world’s largest and best steel equipment manufacturer.
In June 2018, we signed a contract for the supply of new equipment for the rebar rolling mill in bars and coils, and wire rod mill in coils, with an annual production capacity of 450,000 MT. The design, construction, and installation of the equipment lasted for 2 years and 15 days.
Despite being hindered by the COVID-19 pandemic and quarantine measures, we managed to start the first beam through the production line on July 15, 2020. This new plant has had significant implications for our company’s green agenda, as it is equipped with advanced technologies that reduce energy consumption, improve efficiency, and minimize waste. In addition, the new plant’s equipment is designed to optimize production efficiency, minimizing energy consumption and waste.
Overall, the new plant has had a positive impact on our company’s green agenda, helping us achieve our sustainability goals while improving our production efficiency and capacity. We are proud to have partnered with DANIELI and look forward to continuing to innovate and invest in efficient and sustainable technology in the future.
